Searching for Leadership

Are you in the midst of an organizational transformation? Maybe you call it digital, perhaps agile; most probably, you found your own words to name it. If you are in one of these transformations or want to start one, this talk will give you some hints on where can you start searching for answers to some of the questions I was asking myself being part of several agile transformations:

  • What is trying to happen? 
  • What is new in the organizational system? 
  • Why should we change?
  • What systems are part of the change?
  • Who wants the change?
  • Who is responsible for the change?
  • What should we do to make this change happen?
  • What are we, as a whole organization, learning?

 

This talk will take you on a journey of searching for leadership in a time of change with the following destinations: 

  • some views and definitions of leadership that will help us navigate the talk,
  • leadership as a process of establishing direction and aligning people,
  • leadership as a group of people expected to provide the direction and create alignment, and what are the differences and similarities between the terms: leadership and management, 
  • leadership on all levels,
  • what kind(s) of leadership do we need in an organizational change, and what is meant by agile leadership,
  •  a glimpse into my journey of searching for leadership. 

 

I will end our journey together with the invitation to consider starting your journey of searching for leadership. My journey is still ongoing, and till now, it has been highly enriching.

Biography

Zvonimir assists organizations on their transformation journeys in his role of an enterprise agile coach at TechTalk GmbH. He is passionate about Agile because he believes in people, their strengths, and innate resourcefulness. He firmly believes that people want to grow and excel in what they are doing and that creating an environment where people can self-organize and self-actualize is the primary responsibility of leaders on all levels. Since he first encountered Agile, he became deeply connected to agile values and principles (as stated in the manifesto for agile software development). In his opinion, they hold the key to understanding what Agile is all about.

Zvonimir has more than 16 years of experience in agile delivery, improving the value delivery capabilities of organizations and teams. 

His journey to becoming an enterprise agile coach has had several stations where he gathered valuable experience in organizations as big as a few people and those with thousands of people. Working as a manager, he experienced firsthand the difference between management and leadership. And in addition, he realized that his passion lies in supporting the growth of people through his role as an agile coach.
